“It’s always fun to see the excitement of new businesses opening in the community,” said Brett Angell, Maple Grove’s Director of Economic Development. And there are several new businesses recently opened or soon to be opening in Maple Grove, in stark contrast to city officials’ fears about two years ago when the Covid-19 pandemic began. Angell says, “We anticipated with Covid that there would be up to 25% of business closures potentially occurring.” Fortunately, that has not been the case, as Angell adds: “We actually saw a lot of new leases that were signed. For the Shoppes, in particular, they recently opened Planet Fitness, and in the coming weeks they’ll see Restore Hyper Wellness, Kung Fu Tea, and then also Rustic Shack opening up, and that’s going to draw in a lot more traffic into the area, and much more excitement and visitors. Angell goes on to say that the city is seeing retail growth throughout the Arbor Lakes area: “Looking at Main Street in particular, we have Discover Strength which opened, Max’s on Main which recently opened and The Good Clinic is expected to open within the next two weeks. As for the village of Arbor Lakes, the last multi-tenant building is currently under construction and Starbuck is expected to open in the coming months. And the vacant AMC theater will also house several new businesses. Angell says, “Floor and Decor is going to take up all of the old AMC space, this whole building, and because of their low demand for parking compared to a movie theater, that opens up some of the parking areas for development, so the Le The developer proposes to add three additional buildings, one of which would be a stand-alone restaurant, one would be a multi-tenant building, and the third would be a faster drive-thru style. And according to Angell, it’s not just the Arbor Lakes area that’s seeing growth, “Cub Wine & Spirits is now open in the Cub parking lot, this is their first stand-alone liquor store they have. We also have Pet Suites coming in near the Hospital Zone, Crunch Fitness is open in The Grove, and many other businesses that we’re really excited to see growing in the city.
