56 Rustic design kitchen, refined cuisine | Food

The 56 Kitchen in Solon has been open for just under two weeks and praise is already pouring in from diners.

“People love the decor. It is a very comfortable feeling. They also absolutely love the food, ”said owner Jay Leitson.

The restaurant, which officially opened on June 27 at 33587 Aurora Road, offers an open concept kitchen and rustic décor. It can accommodate around 120 people.

“We’ve integrated the kitchen into the dining room so you can see everything that’s going on,” said Leitson, who opened the restaurant with his business partner, Izzy Schachner. “We have also created a real cozy and rustic atmosphere. Some of the tables we use are 150 year old farm tables. It took a long time to find the materials to create this earthy, rustic design.

Like Leitson’s other restaurants – Cafe 56 in Mayfield Heights and Cafe 56 Express in Beachwood – 56 Kitchen offers an assortment of salads and sandwiches. Unlike other places, the restaurant offers small plates, gourmet artisanal pizzas, burgers and entrees including pan-seared salmon, herbed roast chicken breast, vegan spaghetti and meatballs, and Marnier trout. . The restaurant also has a full bar.

“It’s a sit-down restaurant. Our other locations are more counter service and fast food restaurants. This is the major difference. We also have a phenomenal chef (Drew Slane), ”said Leitson.

The menu also offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. The artisanal pizzas have been a big draw, Leitson said.

“Our pizzas are really rustic. We have a modified stone oven which creates a real thin crust on the pizzas. Everything is homemade. From bread to every sauce, it’s all from scratch, ”said Leiston.

The restaurant is currently open for dinner Monday through Saturday. Leitson said he hoped to open for lunch later this month and noted plans to introduce Sunday brunch in August.
