Local Kitchens brings together 8 restaurant concepts in a “micro-dining room”

The debate over the family’s take-out dinner rages on. We want Thai. Another thinks sushi. The Mediterranean is always attractive. Filipino food too. And how about spicy fried chicken?

Local Kitchens was created to solve this dilemma. This “micro food hall” offers multiple dining concepts in one location, but differs from the “ghost kitchen” format in a few key points. First, customers can order takeout or delivery from all concepts at the same time. Second, many local kitchens are located in commercial areas, not industrial areas. And, unlike most ghost kitchens, they usually offer a small amount of seating for customers.

The newest of this “mix and match” restaurant concept has just opened in Campbell’s Hamilton Plaza shopping center, two months after the company set up shop in Los Gatos.

On the menu of Campbell and Los Gatos, eight restaurants offer dishes: Senor Sisig, The Melt, SAJJ Mediterranean, Sushiritto, Proposition Chicken, Rooster and Rice, The Plant and Humphry Slocombe ice cream.

Other Bay Area locations are in Cupertino, Lafayette, Mountain View, Palo Alto, and San Jose. Restaurant selections vary; for example, Tacolicious, Wise Sons and Curry Up Now are in Mountain View, and Cupertino offers Asian Box and Dumpling Time. The president’s baos are in Palo Alto.

Details: Campbell’s location is open 11 a.m. to midnight daily at 1640 S. Bascom Ave. In Los Gatos, hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at 681 Blossom Hill Road. www.localkitchens.com
